colorful world of hermits

As me and my friend's usual routine every weekend; going to a sports complex nearby for a jog and a badminton match. Then after a short jog, long talks and a not-so-olympic match in badminton, we decided to pass by (as usual!) at IT Park, Lahug, Cebu City to rest for a while. We went to the flea market situated beside the Skyrise 3 building, to look for something to eat. Then we see these small nocturnal creatures in a big aquarium. They are so colorful that it would really catch your attention. Some of the kids were there also grabbing the shirt of their mom and dad begging to buy one of those. I did took some pictures of them and would like to share it with you guys.

Facts about Hermit Crabs

1. Hermit crabs are mostly nocturnal. That means they move around more at night than during the day.

2. Hermit crabs can live up to 20 years.

3. Hermit crabs have been heard making croaking sounds. It is still being studied to try to find out if this is a means of communication or what the croaking might mean.

4. Hermit crabs have five pairs of legs. The second and third pairs of legs are used for walking.

5. Hermits crab's relatives are the spiders and lobsters.

6. They love to climb. So it is best that they have a climbing material on their cage.

7. Hermit crabs drink by dipping their claws in water then lifting out drops of water to their gills and mouth.

8. Hermit crabs moult as they grow, which means that they shed their exoskeleton. And when they grow, they discard the shell they previously had and search for a larger one.
